Can Vx1000 Record S-Video Can't Post

Yea, I know. An elementary question.
I need to make a DV tape copy of a beta SP master. I've tried coming out from a beta deck and into the S-Video connection of the VX1000, but it doesn't record. On some camcorders, that connection acts as an input as well as an output. So far, I've had no luck recording on my VX1000 using this method and the slim documentation doesn't address much in the way of its VCR functions.
Am I trying the impossible, or have I overlooked something?

I believe that you can only record Firewire in, nothing else.

The VX1000 does not take analog in. You can use a sony DV MC-DA1 or DA2 to convert the s-video to IEEE 1394 (aka firewire) to record on the VX1000 but there is no other hack for doing it.
