Cold weather kills your VX1000!?! Need help urgently! Can't Post

Ok, I film in the UK and we've been having a cold snap. I have filmed in cold weather before, even in finland with a vx2000 at -15, but have never encountered problems. However over the last two days, virtually every camera we have has had problems. I'm going to list them and maybe you could post what you think is the problem. Thanks! Appreciated!

Saturday : Vx1000 (Pal)
Camera was working fine a week earlier in Spain. Take camera out in cold weather..press play to check tape position...shows green lines horizontally across screen. i fast forward a bit...clean heads...still the same...then let record for ages. Eventually works fine then recors "with stuttering..even recording one frame continuously...then whole screen is green. Now plays green and records green..even plays pre recorded footage green. Even back home in the warmth.
Sunday :
Myself and two colleagues go out with 2 other vx1000 pal 1 vx1000 NTSC..all display horizontal green lines on play back momentarily, but then fine.
The vx1000 also playsback footage sketchily back home, footage looks like it is glitched but plays ok on another player.

I also have another VX1000 which i have nt used for a while becuase on occaission it records nothing, then works ok.
I have a vx2000 which when the eject is shut it beeps constantly until ejected.
If you have ANY info on ANY of these problems it would help me enormously. Please post or email magee@covert.fsnet.co.uk
thanks
Dan

there is most likely condensation(sp?) in your cam. if you take your cam right out of a bag into the cold it will do that. when the cam beeps when not ejected it means the same thing. if you get one of those hot packs and put in the batt bay it may help some and if you keep the cam in a seeled plastic bag in your bag then take it out and leave it out in the plastic bag for a few minutes then start filming. do the same when you go inside.
