DCR-TRV33E - can't record from TV..... Can't Post
UnsureHi Folks,
I'm new here and hope someone can help. I'm trying to record a TV program onto my Sony camcorder but am not having much luck.... I don't want to upset the SCART cables in the back of my TV so I'm trying to use the A/V connecting cable. I follow the instructions in the user manual for dubbing but what I end up with is a tape of the inside of the lens cap! Not exactly what I hoped to achieve. I expected there to be somewhere to select the input source (such as CCD/AV cable) but can't find any similar options. Any suggestions on how to select the A/V cable as the input, rather that the CCD, please? Thanks.

The Camera must be in the "VCR" mdoe instead of the camera mode to record from an outside source.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your reply. I do put the camera in the VCR mode, as the instruction manual says. I also start and end recording using the LCD screen, again as the instruction manual says. I know that there's no problem with the A/V cable as I've used it recently for hooking up the camcorder to the TV. The only part of the instructions that are a little vague are when it talks about going into the LCD mode in the menu before starting. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has actually done this successfully.

Hi folks,
I got my "camcorder not recording from TV..." problem sorted out. I rang the shop that I bought the camcorder from and had a chat. They agreed that I could take it in and try a few things out. Eventually, I needed a different SCART to A/V cable adapter. The one supplied with the camcorder has only about five pins coming through. The new one has all pins coming through and an input/output switch on. It only cost ten English pounds (18 US dollars..?) so was worth it to save any more time being wasted.
