DCR-VX1000 Need the procedure to use flash HVL-F7 Photo Flash	Can't Post

I can not get the camera to take a flash shot in photo mode. It works fine in taking any photo in photo mode,but I am not able to see the Flash fire.I use the Lanc plug port. (Video is perfect)The day I purchased the camera it worked. Now I am puzzled about maybe I need to push a button or throw a switch. For sure I am going to order a users Flash manual. I do have the operational manual(copy). Is there a way to test the flash? Can I measure voltage anywhere?
