thank god i got the same problem on adobe premiere. someone please help.. is it something in the menu? or broken vtr ribbon cable... helllp

I have a VX2000 that will not capture on my computer, but will capture on my wife's computer! Both systems are HP, and run XP. Switching to a different miniDV camcorder, I can capture DV on my computer! I'm wondering if there may be a corrupt or missing firewire/DV software program. Anyone??
