Mine just pulled off with some nudging with a wooden toothpick. It's only cosmetic, and you can use an adhesive to stick it back on if there is none left on the sticker. ~tom : How do you get that tiny circular sticker off? : I assume it would never go back on again? : Thanks : : : Fortunately the part you are referring can easily be cleaned by any photo or video : : : rapair dealer. No need to send it to Sony. The cost should be about $50. Thy only : : : need to remove the front filter to clean inside. Sony does put a protective filter on : : : your camera but it can not be unscrewed. You need some photo tools that only a : : : photo repair guy will have. It is actually a bit stupid to use a filter on the lens of a : : : VX1000 /2000 because there is already a filter on the lens. That filter if damaged : : : cost only $60 and can be ordered from Sony. : : : But going back to your question, yes, that debris or spec can be easily be removed : : : and it should not be expensive at all. : : : Also, that should only be visible in bright light when you shoot in a very small : : : aperture, F8 and more. When you stop down the lens, F5 or F2.8 that spec will not : : : appear since the iris will be wider open and the refracted light will not focus on the : : : lens part where the spec lies. : : : : Would anyone know if it is possible to easily gain access to the inner surface of the : : : lense? I obtained a used, but excellent condition VX1000 that has a small spot (dirt : : : or chip) that is clearly on the inner surface of the outermost lense. It does show up : : : on the image while shooting in bright light, thank heavens it is toward the outer : : : area of the lense. Is the lense expensive if it needs to be replaced? : : : : THanks : : : : Jon : : If you carefully unstick the circular sticker around the protection lens. you will see that with a flat screwdriver you can turn the lens about 1/3 of a turn, then it just comes out. You can clean the inner surface of the protection lens and the outersurface of the next lens. If the dirt is further in the lens assembly, then it is rather a job to dismantle the lens, and you have to attack it from the inside, requiring a fair breakdown of the whole camera. Hopefully it is just on the inner surface of the protection lens. Hope this helps ~tom
