Nope. I owned an EVW-300 camcorder for many years. Now I have a PD-170. The image of the PD170 is superior than the EDD picture of an EVW-300 (meaning the image coming out of the camera and not being recorded). The PD170 image, recorded or EDD, is superior to whatever comes up from the EVW-300. The Sony PD170 uses later generation Super HAD chips coupled with newer technology all around, thus delivering a better signal to noise ratio, luminance and chrominance all across the board. The audio quality of the PD170 is also better than the obsolute PCM and analog tracks of an EVW camcorder. Sorry to dissapoint you. However, if you plan to record the image of the EVW to a DV recorder, it may not be a bad idea. Its picture quality is not too bad and you have the much better servo lens of the EVW camcorder. The lens, I have to admit, has some advantages to the lens of the PD170. You have true variable power zoom in the Canon or Fujinon lens you may have plus a much better focusing system. However, overall, the PD170 beats the EVW-300 in all other respects. Hello. Anybody knows the quality of image if iŽam use the EVW 300 cancorder, take the output video signal and plug in one video walkmam minidv? Its a good or not good idea? I can get one better resolution if compare whit the pd 170?
