HD vs. Progressive scan 480p Can't Post

Hi all,
I know that I may be way off line here since my question relates mainly to the Sony TV's. But, since I frequent this forum and I know many of you are reliable, knowledgable people I decided to post this question. My question is: Does the fact that I have component inputs on a TV for progressive scan DVD inputs, does this mean that I can hook it up to a high-def converter box and still enjoy a good image ? ? I ask this because I have a pal cammy. I'm trying to get a Sony digital multisystem TV (to display PAL) and at the same time, be able to upgrade in the future to HDTV (using same TV set). ....what do you all think ???? Should I just worry about HD in seven years from now ?or will I miss the train by then ? Should I just go for the multisystem Digital Wega TV ?

Thanks in Advance,
Adam.
