HELP! Which camera should I buy PD100, PD150, GL1 or XL1? Which is the best? Can't Post

I have been finding writings on audio problems with the PD100, PD150, GL1. I want to do some video editing with G4 and Final Cut Pro. It will be Documentaries with interviewing. We will use external microphones for interviewing. Lavier microphones will be used. I think I will use direct wire connection to mic input. Sound quality is crucial. I was hoping for a camera with VU meter and input controls. It will will hopefully be broadcasted on PBS. Help this new student of broadcast video out. Thanks!
