How is VX2000 with animation - stop motion, etc Can't Post

I am planning on getting the VX2000, primarily for filming stop-motion animation (claymation and the like) that I will then further composite digitally in After Effects and the like.
I will be wanting to film in a wide variety of lighting conditions and want to be able to film small objects close up. I am most concerned about color and image clarity.
Is the VX2000 a good choice for animation? Is it overkill or not enough? It is a little steep for me but I want to get something that won't disappoint later. Any good sites for more info on Digital Camcorders for animation?
Thanks for any insights....

I have used the stop animation feature on my VX2000. Although the feature wasn't the reason I bought the camera, it works quite well. I made a short clip featuring all of my kid's toys, adjusted the speed in Premiere, and put it back on tape, looks great.

Re: anything will doo it [In reply to] Can't Post

I really don't think it's worth spending lot's of coin on a vx 2000 just for stop animation the lower end sony camera's with memory cards will doo just fine use the manual exposer though. I've used both and can't justifie spending that much more mony on a vx2000
