I Can't afford vx2000, how about vx1000? Can't Post

I am fairly new to purchasing digital video cameras. I would love to buy a used vx2000 or 2100, but for now, I can't afford it. I've seen vx1000s used for under $1000. I will be using the camera to shoot music videos.

1) How good is the vx1000? How is the picture quality vs. newer cameras?
2) If we do eventually get a vx2000+, will the image quality match well enough that we can use both cameras?
3) How reliable is the vx1000? Should I be really concerned about what condition a used one might be in?
4) Any advice for better cameras under $1000 bucks?

Thank you very very much for any advice.

The VX1000 set the benchmark for digital cameras in 1995 and is still compared to current models when rating them for performance and features. The picture quality is excellent and compares favorably with current 3 chip models and blows away ALL single chip cameras. The recorded image will blend very well with the VX2000/2100. The reliability of the 1000 is and was excellent. Now they are up to 10 years old at this point and therefore do fail in one area or another, of course. Although there are thousands still in use today. I had as many as 4 at a time and still have one for less than ideal environmental conditions and for a loaner for my camera operators–in-training. It still produces an excellent product. You can get newer for under a grand but you can’t get better. You just have to take your chances on how long and if problems may appear.

hey,

I've got a few extra XV2100 cameras that is left over stock, and we're getting new stock and need to make room in our storage. This model will soon be un-marketable in a high-end market place

I resell strictly online, and offer a Brand New SEALED Sony DCR-VX2100 for $1,600.

I am paypal verified and can get a camera to you as soon as possible.

email me: wygore@gmail.com and I can get you on your way.

Are you an authorized Sony reseller? Otherwise Sony will not honor the warranty

I have both a VX1000 and a PD150 which is essentially the same as a VX2000 with a few more bells and whistles.

I am very fond of the VX1000 but it is nowhere near the camera that the PD150/VX2000 is (are?). The VX1000's greatest weakness is in low light while the PD150/VX2000 can almost see in the dark. I understand that the PD170/VX2100 is even better. The optics are noticeably better with the VX2000/PD150 than the VX1000 even in bright light. The images on tape from each are not comparable. The newer camera is noticeably better. I can mix footage between the two cameras with care but it isn't always easy. I would save for a used VX2000. It is a better camera.

For what it is worth.
