Japanese Vx-1000 vx. American Vx-1000 Can't Post

My friend is considering buying a perfect condition Vx-1000. The catch is that the camera is made in Japan. In other words, the controls are in Japanese. Can you tell me if there are any significant differences in quality and/or differences in price? Thank you!

I recently helped a fellow from DownUnder who bought a Japanese vx1000. He mailed me a utility and a homemade lanc/parallel port connector. I downloaded the programing from my VX and emailed it to him. I never heard back. I have the utilities/info/ and my "dump". email me

I have both an American and Japanese version of the VX1000 - controls are the same although labeling and wording in view finder is of course in Japanese. The other difference I've
noticed is the Japanese version on FADE mode will fade to white while the American version fades to black. Picture quality and tape compatibility is the same.

I know somebody who purchased such a camera and there is no
difference other then the language...they are the same. He
bought the Japanese version because he saved a bit of money.
