Looking to buy camera, so many choices, so confused!? Can't Post

Hi everyone! I am getting very interested in videocameras! I have $3,000 saved up and Im going to make my decision soon. But I dont't know where to begin. I think I am going between GL1, VX-1000, and VX-2000. Whenever I call a shop to ask their opinion, they tell me that they are all the same thing. This can't be true, can it? Anyways, thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated. I am going to be filming action sports (mainly skateboarding). Thanks, Greg

Its all up to you Greg. Most of the top skateboard filmers I have seen mostly use the VX1000 and some are starting to use the TRV900. I myself am saving to buy the VX1000 to film skateboarding. The only loss I know the VX1000 really has is it films very poorly in low light conditions. I don't know really that much about the GL1, but some top filmers are also using this. I think its just really up to you to decide.

Of course, they are not the same. However, every last one of them is a good cam which is how they are all alike.
The VX2000 has the advantage of being the new kid on the block. It features newer electronics, image array, and optics. One very nice feature it has is a dual ND filter. That can be a real aid in getting a better picture. By all accounts the VX2000 can shoot in lower light than the GL.
However, do sell the GL-1, TVR900, or VX1000 short. All are capable of producing excellent video and audio. If progressive scan (Canon calls it frame movie) is your bag, then you should probably look at the GL-1 over the VX2K. The VX2K (on NTSC cams) does not support progressive scan at 30 fps (PAL version supports full prog scan).
As far as the 900 and VX1K, by golly, they are still good cams. I think someone said that the 900's price has dropped $50 in over a year. That ain't much and shows what a capable cam it is.
