PD-150 - high-pitch whine noise when tape is in? Can't Post

I noticed that when I insert a tape into my PD-150, there is a faint high pitched motor sound (I assume the tape head moving or something.) This has nothing to do with the AGC hiss problem, in fact it happens just from having a tape in the camera (even not recording). The shotgun mic doesn't seem to pick it up, but I'm just wondering if other people notice this - for that matter, do all cameras do this?
