PD-170 White Balance color temperature problems Can't Post

Been having a strange problem with our PD-170 where the color temperature fluctuates between 3000 and 7000K constantly. It just goes back and forth between red and blue every couple of seconds. It does this while in Auto White Balance, manually set white balance and the pre-set ones. Sometimes I will turn it on and it will look right and then I start shooting and then it starts. Most times I'm just trying to get the white balance set and immediately after resetting it, it goes back into it's fluctuating temperature. Any ideas?

We also had some issues come up recently with audio, but I found a few things on here to try and get that fixed.

If this happens during manual mode I suggest sending your camera in for repair then. Once set in manual it shouldn't ever change.

Are you by chance shooting under fluorescent lights? If so, try locking in a shutter speed of 125 or less as well as locked in WB.

...not certain about your PD-170, but something very similar sounding has been discussed in this forum in the past regarding the PD-150s and VX2000s.

Have a look at these links for more info.
