I'm not a FCP user however it sounds like you are selecting the wrong setting. Anamorphic is not correct as you are not shooting anamorphic. You should actually use 16x9 or widescreen. The 16x9 mode in the Sony PD150 uses the full width of the chip but not the top and bottom (think of it as having a letterboxed chip). Inside the camera there is an intelligent interpolation that occurs so it results in a widescreen resolution. So what you are left with is a true wide screen format, although it is not the same resolution as it would be if it was shot on a camera with a true 16x9 chip. Anamorphic is when you use an anamorphic lens to make your images appear tall and skinny when shooting in a 4:3 mode. Then when you put it in a 16x9 frame it stretches out to fill the complete frame and the footage that was tall and skinny is now the proper aspect ration.
