Purchasing Dilemma Can't Post

Hi,

I'm getting a bit of wedding ceremony/party work lately and am considering upgrading my equipment. I currently use a VX1000, which I like, except for in low-light environments. I'm thinking about purchasing a couple of VX2100s or PD170s, but I'm worried that because they don't offer true 16:9 mode or a progressive mode I might be better off to wait for awhile. BTW, is true 16:9 that important? If you compared the two side by side, would you see much of a difference on an average TV? One other thing, once I make my purchase, it will be my last for a good number of years. Many thanks in advance!

I do not see any use for 16X9 or the progressive mode. Cute but of little practical benefit.
You won't go wrong with either of those. There will always be a 'new camera' just around the corner. You will love the 2000/2100/150/170 because of the loooong battery life. simply amazing. The low light ability is the best in this level of cameras.

Rinda,

I just bought two 2100's and have done 3 shoots. They are fantastic for weddings...great in low light, and it's easy to switch between manual and auto for most things. And although, I have seen the LCD dissed on certain message boards, I find it to be very clear and sharp. I never use the viewfinder. Admittedly, it is not very good. You will not be disappointed with this camera. Good luck.
