Question about VX1000	Can't Post

I am buying a VX1000 tonight, and I just want to make sure I am making a good purchase. I am moving from a tr910 Hi8 because I do alot of After Effects and 3D animation. I am getting the camera for $1000 in really good shape. Does anyone have any opinions on how much better the 1000 is over a Hi8 (TED???)
