Gentlemen, The vx700, the vx1000, the vx2000 and maybe even the new and improved vx 200000 are all the same machine. Tooling changes are expensive, Chipsets are often disabled for future upgrades . The New vx2000 is a vintage vx 700 with moderate improvements to the most accessible components and the rest is cmos magic. Case in point, I once did some animation work for a large company that makes hand held radios( I wont say it's Motorola) Well it turns out what I was animating was a proposal for a well known dipswitch manufacturing plant to install dial inhibitors to limit channel use. (A $49.00 radio is the same as the $200.00 radio this gives the company time to reengineer a new product line from scratch.) from what I've been hearing about the vx700 and the vx1000 and the vx2000 Sony has master minded a great scam. Not only selling ntsc as pals and vis versa , DV in/out , I wonder if it's got a secret cigeratte lighter. man with the money they made reselling the same great camera for this many years. I'm sure they will make up for screwing us with a new product line of Broadcast quality stuff looking like a consumer grade cameras. Find the secret code and wow, you saved $6000! The truth is by the time anyone notices these practices Manufactures can come up with something really new and dazzle us back for more.
