Shooting Hockey Can't Post

I'm an advanced amature, using a Sony D8 camcorder, and I realize I have limitations there, but does anyone have a pointers for shooting ice hockey footage-specifically the exposure. I'm constantly playing with the exposure because the ice is really bright white, and the players image closes down. It helps to open the exposure, but it blows out the ice, including the puck. any ideas appreciated....

If you move up to a better camera it will help a bunch. Any of the 3 chip models will handle the contrast much better.
