Short Film on VX2000: Would like some reviews Can't Post

I am a 17-year-old student and I put this short together with the help of a few friends. I would appreciate any feedback; we shot on a VX-2000 with an ME-66 for sound. This version was compressed before the noise reduction was completed, so disregard some occasional audio hiss. Enjoy.

PS - I posted in the filmmaker forum as well, figured it was applicable for both.

Tony,

I thought that was great!!! ...17 years old huh? I see you wrote it too. Keep it up buddy... I'm very impressed by your creativity as well as technical skill.

My only critisizm is a technical one. Some of your scenes needed a bit of fill lighting. But judging from your obvious attention to detail, I suspect you already know that and just lacked the resources to do it.

Keep it up! I expect to see more from you.

Great job!

There are two shots in that piece that are fantastic on many levels. The wide shot of the road and hedges on the bicycle with John, and then the silouette of the same shot walking home. A lot emotion packed in those shots.

Technically, there are some lighting issues as mentioned before, and also a little bit of weakness in the middle skate park scene. The tempo is a little loose and some sloppy editing, but that is getting picky.

The entire opening sequence, up until the boy finds John, is PERFECT.

Keep it up.
