Shotgun mic Can't Post

There's probably a very easy answer to this but I'll ask anyway. Used a shotgun mic for the first time at the last wedding I did. Anyway, when I was transfering the video the audio was missing. Luckily I only used it for a few minutes during the reception. Is there a setting that I need to change in the menu for this mic to work? BTW it's on a vx2100 and it's not an xlr connection.

LaughLaughLaughLaugh You're so bad. LaughLaugh

It's true though. The first time you try to get by without your headphones, it's like an instant audio problem. Works every time. Laugh

As for the problem, I'm guessing some sort of adapter was required to plug it into the VX2000, unless it was one of the new shotgun mic's with mini plugs made for consumer cams. Maybe the problem would be in the adapter. Maybe the battery in the mic was dead, and the VX doesn't have phantom power? I'm not a wiz at audio, just some random thoughts! If you tested it out on the camera before using it, and it worked fine, then maybe the plug was loose? I think the VX are known for for their mic jacks breaking easily as well.

Good luck!

Have not had time to look at it. But I did break a major rule of videography, I didn't test it before I used it. I received the mic the day before the shoot and took it with me and decided to try it out. I will check it but I'm sure you hit the nail on the head with the MIC/LIN switch set to Mic. Thanks Brack and Rusty.
