Sony vs Panasonic DV tapes Can't Post

What are the major differences between the Sony and Panasonic DV tapes? Is one a wet lubricant or a dry lubricant? Will a Panasonic head cleaner work well when using Sony tapes and will a Sony head cleaner work well when using Panasonic tapes? Is it better to keep the cleaner the same as tape manufacturer?

Thanks

Hi!!

Whatever you do DONT mix them or you WILL have problems!!!!!!!!! Pirate

They seem to use different lubricants and react. I only use Sony as they seem to be more reliable.

Unimpressed

I just picked up a used PD170 and am wodering about head cleaning. I will run a head cleaner before using, but then, after how many hours should one be used as a regular practice? Any ideas? I plan on sticking to Sony tapes.

Thanx in advance,
