Sorry for asking again - Canon XL1s vs PD170 vs VX2100 Can't Post

I am finally ready to buy a camera after saving for a year. So now asking for opinions about whether to get the XL1s or PD170 (or VX2100). Last year I was ripped off $2590 on an eBay scam for a Canon. I had purchased a few accesories for the Canon - tripod, battery, XLR adapter, filters.

My budget for the camera is about $3500. The price for the two cameras is pretty comparable (XL1s and PD170). I plan to use it primarily for weddings and then various other non-business things such as short films and experimental stuff. I have been researching for so long that now I have no idea which one I should get. Do all these cameras have interval recording? I am not too concerned about the appearance of the camera. I figure my samples will show what I can do with them.

Thank you in advance for the advice.

The cannon XL1 is an amazing camera, but I have heard that cannon is replacing the XL1 with a new, better camera.

I have had both cameras and I would suggest the Sony over the Cannons for several reasons.
The Cannons cost so much to repair Firewire port on 1 of ours hade to be replaced at a cost of 250.00
the lense worked loose on the XL1s and we tried to buy a new locking spring for it,Cannon wanted to replace the body ass at a cost over 1000.00
I have 2 PD170's and no problems so far they have peformed well and to me are much eaiser to operate
Before these cameras I used to shoot with the Sony digital 8's with are still in use by us today.

I would suggest the Sonys based on my experence but its really up to you

I choose the PD-170 over the XL1 because of its low light performance, reduced size and neutral colours. I was also considering the XL1-S seriously and the XL2 looks awesome.

I still think I have made the right choice for my needs but as far as I can see it is a matter of how you work.

If you dont need xlr or dvcam save the $$$ and go with the 2100 you do get a wide adpt. with the 170 but with the cash you save with the 2100 you can get a Century bayonet Wide adpt. its much better than the Sony Wide Adpt.

Got my PD170 yesterday. It's sitting on my new bogen tripod in my living room right now. Trying to get through a stack of paperwork so I can give it a try.
