I've seen filter wrenches for like $3-4...maybe you could pick one up at the local camera shop, or maybe they'll let you borrow one?

Good luck!

Easiest way I've found is to place a rubber band around the outside of the filter then unscrew. Works like a charm, and it's free (if you already have a rubber band!)

Filter wrench. Sounds like a method of recycling cigarettes.

Will ask about or see what Mr Google has to offer.

Check out the link to B&H at the top of the page, search for "filter wrench", and there are a couple of cheap General Brand ones. Like I say, I've never tried one, but seems like something handy to have in my kit. I guess they help spread the torque around...kinda like using an oil filter wrench on your car to get the old filter off. Tongue Good luck!

Had that exact situation occur this weekend. I removed the WA on the DSR250 and the filter came off with the WA. I took a 8 inch strip of duct tape and folded it on itself (sticky side to sticky side) and placed that over the filter. That gave me enough grip to get the filter off the WA to put back onto the cam.

Laugh Thanks for advice. Got if off by cooling the end of the lense by placing well wrapped ice cubes over it. The filter then simply screwed off.
