TIME LAPSE WITH VX2100, PLEASE HELP!! Can't Post

I need to shot a 20 hours Time lapse video, from sunrise to midnight of the Downtown, including the Moon coming up at sunset, my client wants a smooth 10 seconds final video.
Please advice the best way to do it using a Sony VX2100.
Thanks, Diego

Don't! Seriously, 20 hours is 2,160,000 frames of video. He wants that compressed to 10 seconds, 300 frames!
AND he wants it to look smooth.

What is the concentration of the video. Is it just the skyline with the sun rising and then setting? Is it the traffic flow, people???

How are you shooting? Inside (through wondow?), outside (manning camera for 20 straight hours?)?

I would highly suggest a still image time-lapse. You would only require one still image every 4 minutes. 4x15=60, 15x20=300
You could capture a shot every 2 minutes then drop it on the timeline with a 200% speed up, and frame blending. That would probably give you a good result.

Have you given a quote for the job?

Thank you for your advice, i just spoke with a person who does time lapse videos for a living and recomend me to do it 1sec. every minute (will be a 20 min. tape recorded), that will be better to do some adjustments in the editing... what do you think?, camera will be at the balcony of a condo in south beach facing downtown miami, I will be around for 10 hrs. and another camera man another 10 hrs., they will pay $2,500, I dont think is too bad?..
another sugestion?....thanks

One minute every second sounds fine. You can capture as much as you like, but in the end you can only use 300 frames. Capturing more allows you to weed out bad images. I would still do it with a digital still camera, not the VX2000. Your drum and head will take an unecessary beating. You will also have higher resolution with a still camera in case you want to do any special effects like zooming and panning, or if the client decides to have some stills printed.

Good luck with the project. Let us know how it works out.
