I need a suggestion on what tripod to purchase for a VX2100.

I use Manfrotto / Bogden 501 head and 756B legs. It is quite good for protability and stability but it is a trade off. Then again that was what I was looking for.
It is quick to set up.

My suggestion is that you rent or borrow before you buy.

Jfc0054,

It's hard to suggest anything without knowing how much money you want to spend, and what you'll be using your VX2100/tripod for.

The Bogen 501 head seems to be very popular for cameras of this size.

For some of the work I do, I like the Bogen 3221 legs. (I use the "wilderness" model which has black legs with padding).

I also like the 501 head. The quick release plate slides so you can balance the camera well. I also purchased a monopod that uses the same quick release plate. The screw on the plate is flush with the bottom of the plate so the camera can stand on its own bottom on a table.
