Trouble capturing video in Final Cut Pro HS with Sont DSRPDX10 Can't Post

Hi everyone,

My friend shot a movie in Singapore this summer on Panasonic DVX100A 25p camera, and he has now brought the footage back to the US and we want to start editing, so we needed to hardware to get this PAL footage on my computer here since the camera he shot with is back in Singapore.

We got a hold of a Sony DSRPDX10 which is supposed to play both PAL and NTSC...and on the camera the tapes play fine and everything, but when we hooked them up to my computer (under any of the settings) on Final Cut we got a "preview disabled" message in the log and capture tool and when we tried to capture it told us that there was no video coming into the computer.

When we put a NTSC tape in and started a new Final Cut project with NTSC settings it worked fine, but any setting configuration for PAL and using the PAL shot tapes never worked...

I posted this on the apple forums first but no one could help me there, but one person responded with this:

"You say that the DSRPDX10 plays both PAL and NTSC, might it be possible that it only plays in camera and out of the analogue composite ports, but will not send this PAL video out through Firewire? "

Can anyone help me out with this...is this a camera problem where this camera will play PAL but wont send it to my computer? Thanks.

Joe
