Use of fisheye lens Can't Post

Do you ever use a fisheye lens? I've got a PD-150 and I'm interested in getting a fisheye lens. Just would like to know your POV's and experiences.

Thanks!

I use a Raynox .3x semi-fisheye on my VX2000 and I love it. It's not the most expensive glass, but for 100 bucks it does the trick. I would highly recommend trying this inexpensive lens first before plunking down 800 dollars on a Century.

If you purchase "Mark Van Larkens Moving Camera Techinques (highly recommended)", he shows uses for the Fisheye lens, as he seems to like to use it, as it gives a nice sense of depth to the picture, especially for interior shooting of rooms. He uses the Raynox also, but the one that is the snap on version. I picked one up to an love it as well, great for quick mounting and unmounting while shooting. It's this one.

Re: [Sleepey] Use of fisheye lens [In reply to] Can't Post

u can shoot the pedestrian while walking...I feel that it reduces the shake or more stable...and at the same time you got the sense of walking memory... What im trying to say is...like you go to 5th avenue in the NYC and shoot some cool pedestrian or streets life, ppl, cool shops, etc good when travelling.

Also, when ur partying...u may love to shoot someone really closed...and it gives u a sense of party hard...

Some ppl use it in skateboarding business... But for me, I dont see much the use of it compare with its price..If u pick a good one costs about $700... Ppl keep saying raynox mx3000...well, they r not fisheye but more like a semi fish eye or really wide angle lens...

If you r thinking of buying one but not see the point of using it then dont do that...save ur hard earned dough for something else...

Hi Julie,

I absolutely LOVE that piano music. Would you please tell me where it came from?

Also, very nice use of the WA lens! Cool

It was a Jim Brickman tune. Can't seem to remember the title though.

Re: [Sleepey] Use of fisheye lens [In reply to] Can't Post

My main purpose for owning a VX1000 is to film skateboarding. Century makes (or formerly made) a fisheye for the VX1000 known as the Mark1 and it's notorious for being one of the widest fisheyes made for a "cheap 3 chip" camera. I use my Century MK1 almost daily and can't talk it up enough. The thing is amazing glass quality - perfectly constructed. Not to mention that the lens is virtually indestructable. I've seen many fisheyes get hit with skateboards from as many as 10 stairs high, and the MK1 can handle this without a scratch left. Century lenses are well worth the money you invest in them.

Re: [Sleepey] Use of fisheye lens [In reply to] Can't Post

I own the Raynox 0.3 snap-on wide angle lens and would agree with the opinions other owners of this product have made. I don't use it that much, most people who own one probably don't, but for the price and the convenience of a quick release lens, plus the more than acceptable quality it produces makes it a must have in my book. You can't zoom (but you wouldn't want to), and you must make sure to remove any uv/protective lenses on the front end of your camcorder in order that the Raynox be mounted as close as possible to your fixed lens to avoid any vignetting. Also, as it covers quite a large range of lens sizes, make sure that when the spring loaded fittings grab the inner ring of the lens you mount to, that the Raynox is properly centered and not slightly bias to one side. This will become second nature, but a quick pinch or two with your fingers on the mounting springs will ensure the lens is mounted centrally.

Bought a fish eye lens and I LOVE it! I think I overdid it a bit when I first used it Wink Thanks for the advice and tips!

I have a .7 and a .3 and I am thinking of adding a .5 to round out my collection.
