VX-1000 Sound Fault Can't Post

Hi, a general question here. I purchased a new VX1000 in September 1997 and for the first two years it worked fine. At the end of 1999 a reoccuring sound fault began to occur and our local Sony tech has driven himself mad trying to resolve it. The fault is an intermitent "poping" noise that appears in sound recorded in camera mode with no clear pattern or cause. It does not occur in VTR mode and all firewire output to the camera are fine. Between 1999 and 2001 the Sony tech and I played trace the problem and he replaced various parts [almost all the parts, I think] finally agreeing to replace the main motherboard at no cost. This appeared to resolve the problem for a time but then it returned in 2002, so this might have just been a coinsidence. We are now at a lost to explain this issue. The popping sound occurs as a cluster of pops, then things return to normal; using an external microphone does not overcome this issue.

Does anyone have any ideas or has this problem affected other VX1000s?

Re: [Aden S] VX-1000 Sound Fault [In reply to] Can't Post

could be an electrical shortout in the mic... when he disconnects the parts its just putting new ones in, but if mabe the electrical part that leads to the red light on the front of the camcorder while its recording is loose... it may cause very minor sparks which will produce sound. just a thought
