VX-2000 HELP!!! Can't Post

I have a sony vx-2000 and I use it for a lot of events I do videography for. Lately the playback has been skipping or dropping frames... becomes pixelated and looks like the video is possessed. Also, the audi skips and/or is dropped. I can't really afford to take it to some guys for 100 bucks an hour so they can tell me whats wrong with it and then charge even more to fix it. Is this a common problem? Is there something I can clean that is making it do this? If anyone could help me you would be a lifesaver... Thanks. jon

Re: VX-2000 HELP!!! Can't Post

Your camera is an extremely complex piece of electronics equipment. Occasionally they need the expertise of a qualified service technician. Just like your car or TV or refrigerator. If you are using the cam for income, as you seem to indicate, then equipment service is just simply a part of the many business expenses you incur. If a few hundred bucks for camera service is going to break you then you should not be trying to do video business. This is a great reason why I always try to purchase a 5-year extended warrantee on any equipment that I can. That controls maintenance and repair costs to a level, predictable factor.
Now, perhaps that all your cam needs is a good cleaning. You can start with running a cleaning tape, if that is not successful then take it to a shop for a complete manual cleaning which should cost well under a hundred bucks. And most likely will fix the problem.
