VX1000 Battery Compartment Problem Can't Post

My battery door wont open - its really odd. The button that you push down to open the compartment feels locked. It opened without a problem this morning, and after a batteries worth of filming, I went to switch to another battery, and the battery door wouldn't open. Is there some little button that may have locked it and is there a way to unlock it? The button goes down like halfway, but when the button gets to the point where its actually supposed to pop open the battery door, it just stops and feels locked. When I try to apply a bit of force to open it, it just wont move and I don't feel like pushing harder because its a very expensive piece of equipment as you all know. Is there a way to open the battery compartment with a screwdriver to get inside the compartment and check to see if something got in the way of the spring or to at least switch batteries?
