VX1000 Solarization Can't Post

My VX1000 just started showing images that are solarized (the image was OK until this afternoon). Looks like only a couple of thousand colors instead of millions. Anyway, the image is solarized in the viewfinder as well as outputed to a monitor and also recorded on tape. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Is it best to send it to Sony for repair? Understand Sony brings camera up to spec for a flat rate for around $525.
You may respond directly to me, George Yoshitake, e-mail: videocreations@utech.net or call me at (805)733-1113.
