VX1000 and long use... Can't Post

I wanted some "experiences" from those here that have had their VX1000's for several years. Others have brought up concerns that may prove awaiting all of our cameras eventually (I hope not).
Examples:
Replace/repair mic jack (easily comes loose).
Ribbon to the viewfinder...
Coroded circuit board that i believe affects the VX's VTR functions.
Any other issues...
I for one have had my VX1000 since FEB98 and used moderately. I have used only Sony Tapes (but I have reused some of these tapes up to 3 times before moving on) and never used a head cleaner (since I had an extended warranty which included annual cleanings) that however has expired.
I have only had the mic jack replaced once. And (knock on wood) there have been no other issues. I like that there was an extended article on the ribbon subject and I am hopeful that Hal can gleen enough useful articles to print out our own do it yourself repair manual...that or pay the $200+ an hour most services require.
