VX1000 damaged by use with FCP 4.5 Can't Post

My Vx1000 camera stopped working after I breifly used the VX1000 as a DV deck.
The firewire port still plays back, but the camera section is not activated. Seems like
firmware damage? Has anyone ha dthis experience?
Any ideas how to fix this? I was just about to take off on a holiday to California with
the camera.
Thanks
