VX1000 viewfinder problem Can't Post

Actually the veiwfinder was totally broken, but now it is a dark red and dark blue almost like a negative photograph. I have a VX1000. I noticed that this type of problem has been posted before but I couldn't find if anyone gave an anwser to the problem.

Here is the series of events leading up to this.

When it was totally broken,I did take it in to get serviced but the guy I brought the camera to (the only place in the city that did Sony products) said that the part I needed was discontinued and the replacement part that he had didn't fit. It was a ribbon cable for viewfinder.

So I thought I was SOL. Then I found the part on ebay and also found a step by step direction guide to change it, and it wasn't that hard.

I have since opened it up again and made sure the connections were secure.

Do you think that the cable is no good? Would it be worth looking for another cable or do you think it's something else?

But on the plus side, I can see some images in viewfinder and see the menu, as opposed to nothing like before.

Any help would be great.

Wil

Sounds like your ribbon cable went out which normal for the VX1000. The same problem occured on my other 2 cameras. Go to Sony's website and find an authorized repair center in your area. If not send it someone. I get my camera's serviced at Goodman TV in Dallas, Texas. Cost $275.00
