VX2000-Picture area (frame) Can't Post

Hello. I'm new to video and new to this forum. I have a Sony VX2000. I did a shoot today and realized that the actual recorded picture area (frame) is significantly larger than the visible picture area (as seen through both the viewfinder and the lcd screen). I couldn't find anything in the manual so I'm not sure if it's a setting issue, or if it's part of the camera's functionality.

I'd appreciate any info from people who use or have used this camera.

thanks!
