VX2000 Tint change Can't Post

I am a skateboarding filmer and I have recently noticed that on my VX2000 when i film at certain indoor skateparks the tints change from a redish tint to a dull looking grey(ramps being made out of wood). When i set the shutter speed to a lower setting like 125 this is not noticable, but when at a shutter speed of 250 this is easily seen. Any sugestions of what could be done to fix this?

Re: [aws161] VX2000 Tint change [In reply to] Can't Post

This is due to a sync problem with flourescent lights. We actually recently discussed in another thread. For more info see: http://www.videouniversity.com/...sed;guest=4280013880

However, it sounds like you have already figured out the best known work-around. I shoot gymnastics meets, and I've found I usually do OK with 125, even when I work the footage into slo-mo. ...perhaps that's not the case for skating.

You are allowing less light onto the CCD chips. You can adjust the tint and exposure via the Custom Pre-Set button located at the rear of the handle. Make sure that the CP is SET and appears as an icon on you EVF and LCD screen.

You can adjust the tint......the AE adjustment and I would suggest lowering the color by two "click" to the left. Bring up the sharpness 3/4's of the way.

Lastly, MANUALLY white balance the camera.....this will make a BIG difference when used in conjunction with the Custom Pre-Set Mode. Again, make sure the Custom Pre-Set is set to ON.

Actually there is no way to adjust the tint (HUE) in the VX2000 even in the Custom Preset settings. You can only make the picture warmer or cooler but aside from the Color Saturation and Sharpness there is no specific control to modify the GREENS or MAGENTA settings. What you could do, however, is doing white balance trick by using a green or magenta gel in front of the lens when you white balance the camera. Use a Rosco swatchbook for that purpose and you will find several grades of green and magenta gels and voila', you will have a way to control the hue.

Yes...you are correct....there is no RGB isolation of color but the user can introduce a green or red tone or blue cast albeit never precise as a true professional camera with multiple matrix adjustments.

Re: [Lou Bruno] VX2000 Tint change [In reply to] Can't Post

The VX2000 was never designed as a true professional camera. But it would have been extremely useful to see a Hue Shift control instead of the White Balance Shift. The PD150 / PD170 , the latter costing almost as much as a Panasonic DVX100a, do not have it either. However, the Panasonic counterpart has Hue Control among many other things.
