VX2000 wont focus after using wide angle lens Can't Post

I recently shot a dance recital using my Sony VX2000. I used a Kenko .75 Wide angle lens to see all of the stage.
When I remove the wide angle lens, the focus no longer works. Neither manual nor automatic. Everything stays blurry both near and far. If I re-attach the wide angle lens the focus works fine.
What happened? How can I fix it?

Fogrive me if this question is too obvious, but are you sure your camera is focusing with the Kenko attached? If you are only looking at a wide-angle image, the extreme depth of field may make it appear as if the camera is properly focused. Zoom to full telephoto with the adapter in place and check focus.

Make sure you did not separate the WA lens when removing it and leave the rear element still on the camera. The WA could not do anything to harm the focusing of the camera.

Ok, I have tried everyone's suggestions so far without luck. The onboard lens will focus at about 2 inches but no further. It is as if the camera is stuck in "Macro" mode. If I put the screw the wide angle lens back on I can focus on near and far objects both with auto and manual focus.
Does the VX2000 focus through the lens or via the Infrared sensor on the microphone?
When I take the lens hood off, I am left with a silver ring with the work MACRO written in red letters. Is this part of the camera or do I have some other lens still attached?

Take off (unscrew) the lens that has MACRO (in RED) on it that is still on your DCR-VX1000. That is a macro lens for shooting macro at about 10cm or 2". It is not part of the DCR-VX1000. (nor part of the wide angle converter I would suggest). I'd would have thought you might have figured this out - I hope this isn't just a series of hoax posts? ~tom

Thanks,
I will have to get a tool to take it off. I don't remember ever owning or putting this lens on. Perhaps it came with the new Wide angle lens I purchased and I never noticed it.

Gee, what a deal!
Where can I get one of those wide angle lenses that comes with a 'free' macro lens? Wink

The TecPro .5 Wide Angle lens for the VX 2000/2100 and PD150/170 does exactly that. The rear element unscrews and is a very good Macro. Email me if you would like more info at AndysCam@aol.com

Yeah, I feel pretty dumb. In my defense, the Wide angle lens came preassembled with the macro lens.
So I only screwed "one" lens onto the camera and took one lens off. Just my luck that the macro lens is the same color and finish as the VX2000. I had to get my Jar opener out the the kitchen to take the macro lens off. It would NOT come off by hand. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Humbly yours,

Stuff happens...

I recall going on a shoot many, many years ago with a very competant videographer.
We were using the old style camera/recorder units, (the camera was connected to a portable VCR via a 10 pin cable) and we were each covering the same event, but at two different locations.

Whenever he pressed the record button on the camera, the tape would eject from the VCR. after trying it unsuccessfully for about an hour, he smashed his camera to pieces in total frustration. I arrived on scene and asked what had happened, then offered to connect my camera up to his VCR to see if it would work. Sure enough, when the VCR was put into record standby mode and the record button was depressed on the camera, the tape would eject. At that point he was ready to smash his VCR, but I stopped him. It turned out that the safety record tab was missing on his 'blank' tape... Blush
