VX2100 Colour mismatch Can't Post

Have two VX2100s filming speeches and have terrible trouble with colour match even afer white balance on same card. Usually one camera is more yellow that than other One camera is using standard lens and the other a Century wide angle.

Does anyone have same problem and how do you deal with the colour differences - during the shoot or post?

Check to see if the "Custom Presets" are setup exactly the same and make sure they are either turned on or off on both

This is where I would start, and most likely is the culprit.

Michael

Cameras: I do use them.
Audio: Yes, it does come with audio if you like.
Software: I am learning...
Support: I need all that i can get.
Computer: MAC BABY!

Hi Michael. Thanks for response but we have custom set to off on both cameras. Do you get the same colour match after white balancing two 2100s or do you have to tweak the edit later? The only thing I think iscausing the problem is the use of a w\a lens on one but not the other.

Usually because of difference in lighting (different angles, and shot depth closeup or wide), I still have to do some slight color correcting, nothing major though.
Whenever I am using my on camera light on my main camera and not on my wide camera, I get major differences in white balance as well, but there's bot much I can do about that.

Funny, I would have thought that the wide angle lens would be the one that was slightly more yellow?

But to answer your question, yes I always notice a slight difference in white balance when I'm editing 2 or more cameras.

Did you ever determine what was causing the color difference in your 2100's? I use 2 also and have noticed a color difference.

Try this. Instead of manually white balancing on a white card, set both cameras to the same white balance preset (indoor or outdoor, depending on your shooting location), and do a test shoot. Do you still see the phase difference?

Re: [dvddynamix] VX2100 Colour mismatch [In reply to] Can't Post

I think the different lenses was the problem but during the wedding one camera had to move from tungsten to halgen lighting and this may have played around with the colours. Also - adapting the gain during the shoot didnt help. How obvious is your colour range?

BTW - are you using th e 16:9 feature and getting grainy images when burning to dvd? Have just seen my dvds on bth crt and lcd and not at all impressed by the vx2100 clarity. Am getting tempted to look at the new Sony FX1

I do notice a color range between the both. One is a little flat on the colors. I'm usually able to correct it in vegas with curves and levels. Have not used the 16:9 feature so I really can't comment on the grainy images but with 4:3 I've never had a problem.
