A&M Photo World has a new VX2100 for $1200. Why so cheap?

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is. I always check the price at B&H ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com ) . If the price is significantly better than B&H offers it probably is grey market or an outright scam. B&H doesn't alsways have the lowest price but it is a useful benchmark. They are currently seliing the VX2100 for $ 2,319.95.

What is so odd about the A&M site is that they offer the Sony 2100 NTSC camera for $1200 and the PAL version for $2300. PAL is often a little more expensive that NTSC in the US but not $1100 or almost 100% more. The same is true with the Sony HDR-FX1 which is offered at $1800 in NTSC and $2800 in PAL. Very peculiar. B&H has the FX-1 for $3,200 NTSC and $3,500 for PAL.

For grins I checked out the customer ratings for A&M on reseller ratings.com. For reference B&H has a rating of 8.8 out of 10. A&M has a rating of 0.64 (!)

The last thing I would want to give these folks is my credit card.
