VX2100 spot problems Can't Post

Hello.

I have a Sony VX2100 that has two fuzzy gray spots that appear in the recorded video. One is in the upper left not too far from center of field and the other in the lower right. Their size is about one percent of the screen width, more than a pixel width. They are circular but fuzzy. They stay in the same position and stay about the same size during optical zooming but get fuzzier and fainter when zoomed in and can't be seen at full zoom. They are most noticeable in daylight scenes but are difficult to see in indoor scenes. They appear with or without the ND filters. Changing aperture doesn't affect the appearance of the spots.

They aren't burned out pixels. They appear to be dirt on a surface not too far from the CCDs, perhaps the prism or on a lens element deeper within the camera. Has anyone seen such a problem and know if there is an easy way to clean the optics?

Thanks.

Re: [shaggie] VX2100 spot problems [In reply to] Can't Post

This problem turned out to be two sticky flecks of something on the outer most surface. Maybe pollen grains. I was filming in a meadow. I should have checked the obvious first. I cleaned the lens but these sticky things were still there until I cleaned it better. The image is perfect now.

Someone in another thread here said that the outer-most surface of the VX2100 isn't a lens but a protective cover. That would explain why these two spots didn't get smeared out more as they would have if they had been on an actual lens surface. I thought that they were something deeper in the lens system since they looked fairly distinct but they were on the outer-most surface.
