What shutter speed setting do you suggest? Can't Post

I have a sony pd150 and it is new to me. If I wanted to record something like doves being released at a wedding or a basket ball being dribbled and slow it down in post, what should I change to shutter speed to and should I switch anything else on the camera?

I suppose it depends on the effect you want. But if clearer slow-mo is the goal, I'd probably tend to bump it up to the 250 range (give or take), if there is enough light. However, I suggest you do a little experimentation.

One big caution... If you are shooting under flourescent lights (basketball?) You will probably need to keep your shutter to 125 or less. There is a problem that can develop due to sync with the lights that will cause your camera's white balance to get confused and start shifting when using shutter speeds higher than that. It's a problem that can't be avoided any other way, even by locking in your WB.

This problem has been discussed in previous posts.

In a room with mostly or all fluorescent lighting, set the shutter speed to 60th of a second. I shot a wedding ceremony inside at 90th of a second and the colors of everything in the scene slowly changed from normal to warm to cool and back again.

THe fluorescent's are at 60th sec and the 60th sec shutter speed will sync to that.
