Which route should I take? DV i.LINK cable or S-VIDEO Can't Post

Hi, my name is Angie and I have a question about downloading video from my SONY DCR-TRV103 HI-8 Digital camcorder to PC. I don't know which produces a higher quality video download from my camcorder, is it using the i.LINK cable that goes to my DV IN/OUT on camcorder or the S-VIDEO connector? I'm a beginner in this transferring of video down to my pc so any insight or explanation will be much appreciated. Oh, by the way, the software I am going to use is pinnacle studio plus 9.0.

thank you
Angie

I am presuming that you have a dual analog/digital capture card? If you have an Ilink/1394 port on your computer, it should give you slightly better results.

Thanks for replying back. Would a particular type of card help capture my video at a better quality? For instance, a DAZZLE capture device or the video capture built on video card like ATI Graphic card. Or is the firefire connection that came with my iLink good enough.

thanks again
Angie

If you are shooting with a camera with a firewire/1394 port and your computer has a firewire/1394 that is the way to go. You will not lose any resolution in the transfer. A basic OHCI fireward card in your computer will do as well as any other card or interface.
