c:31:23 Tape error? Help... Can't Post

Greetings. I just got a used trv18k. Everything seems to be working fine, but there was a tape in it. When I opened it up to eject the tape, it was stuck and tangled (first time to see that on on a DV camera).

I tried a new tape in another TRV18k. It worked fine, so I put the new tape in the used camera and the screen read C:31:23 with the arrow for "eject tape". I ejected the tape and tried it again in my reliable TRV18k that I know works and then got the SAME error message for the new tape! What's going on?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This question is cross-posted here as well

It sounds like the pinch roller is worn or damaged and this is not transporting the tape evenly - possibly creating a crease and damaging the tape. Either purchase the spare part at sony parts, or ask a service center to do this for you. ~tom
