dcr-730 image capture problem Can't Post

I'm trying to capture some still frames from video I have shot. In the memory stick menu, under Still Set, Image Size, there are 2 settings: 1152x864 and 640x480. I have selected 1152x864 but the captured jpegs are all 640x480. I know this worked fine a few years ago. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? It's very frustrating since this is a huge difference in resolution.

If you are capturing from a video you have shot, then the only recorded information you have available is the 640x480 info. If you are capturing from the lense, then it can get information from the chips (the higher resolution). Once it is on tape, then you are stuck with the resolution on the tape.

So digital 8 video is limited to 640 x 480 stills? I guess I need to record stills right to the memory stick to get 1152 x 864.

That is correct. All DV camcorders are limited in the same way. Once it is on tape, that is all that is recorded.
