evf problem but it may be more serious Can't Post

alright so i have a vx1000 at least 4 years old. the viewfinder is shot it seems. the evf ribbon needs to be replaced because it goes black but as i was searching through this site i found out that it may be more serious. what had happened with my camera was that i started to get glitches during playback. i use the edit search feature for playback because it was easier for me. when i fast forwarded it would start to glitch a bit during playback. i ignored this and it didnt seem to happen anymore so i stopped worrying. but then i noticed during playback i would get a few vertical black bars that appeared between the picture. this concerned me but i wasnt sure what to do. i found when this happened i switched tapes and it stopped. so i found that the life expectency of my tapes were about 45 minutes instead of the traditional 60 mins. so i dealt with that, but recently my viewfinder now had green horizontal bars and then started to just get a scrambled picture with colors of green and purple. then sometimes it just gets scrambled with black and white colors. this happens in both camera mode and vtr mode. what happened though is that it went totally black and i didnt see anything. i would press play and rewind and fast forward and hear the camera operating correctly but just no picture so i figured it was a black out and the ribbon cabled needed replacement. but it seems that when i tap the viewfinder a bit the scarmbled picture comes back making me think the viewfinder isnt just shot but something else because if the viewfinder was a total black out i would assume no picture not even scrambledness would appear. and it is like i said scrambled greens/purples. but if i dont tap the viewfinder it stays completely black and still. no movement what so ever. so i was about to get it repaired with the intent on having the evf ribbon replaced but im not sure if its more than that considering what ive said has happened in the past. not sure if something is wrong with the heads or not. i really need this camera to function correctly and this model alone. anyone who can share input it would be highly appreciated. thank you.
