gl1 vs vx2000 Can't Post

Although this is the v1000 board, there seems to be enough posts
about the 2000 to warrant this request.
I did a search on the gl1 and found nothing in the archives. Has anyone compared the vx2000 to the gl1. The gl1 is significantly cheaper. Is it getting long in the tooth, is the vx2000 better?
Also a question. How do single chip CCD's image their color. With a single chip weighing in at 680k pixels, and the vx2000 at 380k for the three, does the single chip effectively have 1/3 of the resolution?
Thanks
Simon
