Re: green bars Can't Post

That is the classic head clog indication. Run a tape in cue FF and cue RR till it clears up or run a cleaning tape per the instructions in the owners manual.
BTW questions asked here are answered here......

Re: green bars...Sure? [In reply to] Can't Post

Are we sure it's head clog? I've always seen this as black bars instead and have witnessed only black with other videographers -Curious that the bars are green - wonder if anybody knows details in this happening - such as ...Why/how five bars anyway?...Why black sometimes and green others?...Do the bars ever turn up red? blue?...

Yes, very sure, an unrecorded section of tape will usually display green bars on a head clog. A previously recorded tape will usually show what was recorded before in the bars. Each of the 2 record heads will record 1/5th of the picture 5 times alternating with the other head. Each head erases by recording so if clogged it doesn't erase the underlying info or record in those bars.

Re: very interesting info - thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

yeah I've seen the pre recorded tape leave the pre stuff in the bars and unrecorded showing black. Had no idea there were two record heads that alternated 1/5 - very interesting
