infrared light Can't Post

I see DBL sells a 3 watt IR Video light for use on an intelligent shoe, 100 feet for infrared emission it says.
Does this type of light make the video better or is it just
so you can see in the dark, leaving the picture quality very poor?
Tks
Bob

Bob,
The only benefit of the IR light is that it extends the area covered by your camera's nightvision system. Your cammy must have night vision capability for you to use this light and just like any other light source it will illuminate a greater area. But, the IR emmission is not visible to the naked eye. An Infra-red sensor built into the cammy is what provides the image to your cammy. Note that the IR light will not affect an image lit by regular light, nor can it be used without your cammy having that nightvision capability.
Good luck, Adam.

P.S.
You're right. Nightvision images are lower quality pictures since they lack the contrast and color you're used to in regular video. Nightvision images are usually green.
